We value doing it together, as brothers and sisters in the family of God. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/soudertonbic.org\/VVordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/IMG_2497-450x558-218x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"244\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>An abbreviated statement of what we believe:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>We believe the Bible is the authoritative Word of God.<\/li>\n<li>We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.<\/li>\n<li>We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension and personal return.<\/li>\n<li>We believe that only through faith in Jesus as our Savior can we be redeemed and reborn.<\/li>\n<li>We believe the Holy Spirit gives us power for ministry (service) and godly living.<\/li>\n<li>We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in Jesus Christ.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The full statement of our family of churches, the Brethren in Christ, is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bicus.org\/about\/what-we-believe\/articles-of-faith-and-doctrine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Where we come from:<\/h4>\n<p>Historically, we have our roots in four movements of the Christian Church, each bringing a unique and valuable emphasis to our beliefs and practice.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>the <strong>Anabaptists<\/strong>, or &#8220;Radical Reformers,&#8221; who believed that the church ought to be different from the world, that it was possible to follow Jesus daily, and that the Bible should guide all of life,<\/li>\n<li>the<strong> Pietists<\/strong>, who were desperate not to lose a warm, personal, authentic relationship with God in the midst of forms and traditions,<\/li>\n<li>the <strong>Wesleyan Holiness<\/strong> movement, who understood that God didn&#8217;t just change our\u00a0<em>position<\/em> with Him, but wanted to radically change <em>us<\/em> to reflect the beauty of His holiness.<\/li>\n<li>the <strong>Evangelicals<\/strong> who stressed the necessity of a personal commitment to Jesus as Savior and Lord, and the importance of taking this message to others.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Beliefs We are, first and foremost, followers of Jesus.
